Just Some Stuff

My view from the couch while my mom makes us dinner. It's amazing. Dinner is being cooked and I'M not doing it!

Isn't this too cute? My mom is making the baby a quilt and is working on putting the top together today. I just love these reproductions of 1930's fabrics -- I'm really excited for it to be done! And she just made us a dinner of stew and biscuits. We're in heaven over here.

My swollen foot with a sad broken-ish toe.

So, no baby, but there was some excitement last night. I somehow managed to kick the leg of my bed as I walked past. I have never been in so much pain in my life and I can't imagine labor being any worse. John actually thought I was in labor when I hobbled out to him trying not to cry. Wow. I just can't explain how much it hurt. We thought I broke it (I did hear a "crack" when it happened) and contemplated going to the E.R. But, John bandaged my two toes (the nail broke on one of them, and also managed to cut into it's neighbor), got me some Tylenol, and put an ice pack on my foot. Luckily, I was able to go to sleep pretty quickly and it only hurts when I walk now. So now I waddle and limp. I feel attractive and graceful. Also, I have no feeling in three of my fingers on my right hand. Come out baby!!!

I personally know how stinkin' bad it hurts to break your toe. I have a problem toe just like you that somehow manages to get caught on benches, beds and stools. Wowzers, it hurts like the dickens. I taped my toe up too and even managed to ski with it. Sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck with baby and birth. I bet he'll come when you least expect it.

Cara, I hate when I hit my toe like that! It hurts sooo badly! At least your toes are really cute and painted :) When I was in labor, I was really glad my toes were cute because that is what I focussed on when I was breathing through my contractions! :)

I'm sorry about your toe, I know it's terrible. I also hope baby comes soon, so you won't be so uncomfortable. But, I am a little nervous about your fingers being numb...hope that gets better soon.

I'm so glad your mom's there...there is nothing better than having the comfort of your own mom around when you are about to become one. Afterwards too...

Can't wait to hear!

I stub my toes all the time and it hurts so bad. Stephen has never taped mine or given me an ice pack though. He just always says I should be more careful and watch where I'm going.

The numb thing in your fingers does not sound good at all.

I kick my bed at least once a week and almost always have a broken toe nail from it. This time was about 1 million times worse though. I kicked it like, really hard. I'm still limping today.

As for my fingers, I'm pretty sure I have carpal tunnel from all the fluid I'm retaining. It is not fun at all! So, hopefully as soon as this baby is out it'll go away.

In one week I managed to kick my toes so hard on the right side that one turned blue, and pinch the baby toe on the left side in a shopping cart so that I got a blood blister on the tip of it and swore really loud in walmart. I'd have gone to the Dr. too, cept I already know there's nothing they can do about broken toes except give their heartfelt sympathies and some tylenol.

Something about that swollen foot, cara-lou, makes me suspicious that you're not following your Dr. prescribed bed rest. Naughty, I'm going to report you to the state for abuse of the system. :)

Hey, John and I made you dinner while I was there. I didn't hear you calling it amazing then!

I just heard the news! Congratulations!! You are tough, no drugs!! I hope you blog all about it. I love to hear childbirth stories. When people ask about mine they soon regret it because I also love to talk about childbirth. Well I am so impressed with you once again. What a strong brave girl you are. Have fun with your new little sweetheart!

I was curious about baby arriving, but I see from the comment above you are probably holding your sweet little one as I type. Congratulations! Did you go no drugs by choice or by accident because it was too quick? There is something I love about going "all natural". I don't know what it is. Maybe you can explain to me why it is we do this. The best thing in the world about a new baby that doesn't last past a week is their incredibly soft skin. I love it!

I see from everyone elses comments that you must have had your baby! How wonderfull! No drugs is the way to go, I totally agree :) Your recovery will be so much easier because you did it that way! Good job, can't wait to see a pic.

What the heck? I just saw this post and had no idea about your toe! That's awful! As if you really needed anything else giving you pain.

Hope you are settling in nicely at home and enjoying having your mom there for a little longer!!! I can't wait to see that little one again. He is a heartmelter. It's so nice to hold a baby that doesn't talk back or pull your hair or throw tantrums!! :P
