Butter & Sugar

I had a nice relaxing birthday yesterday. It started on Saturday with a massage using a gift card I've had for nearly a year. Then on Sunday I got to go read and drink a chai all by myself for an hour. I met up with Ruth (my birthday twin) to get our nails done and have a milk tea. As per tradition, we had dinner at Yamato (our 6th birthday celebrated there) and cake back at Ruth and Eric's.

I just had to show two of my favorite birthday presents:

I've wanted one of these for years and finally got one! This is a pot de beurre (butter pot) -- it keeps butter spreadably soft and fresh for a month. It's like, the best thing ever. Here's the one I got. And here's how it works. Thanks French people!

And this is a sweet little sugar bowl that Ruth gave me. It is too adorable. And you know, I really need more reasons to use sugar.

Thanks for the bday fun, my friends!

In other news, it's back to being hot again. It's 93 degrees. Blech. I'm pretty disappointed. Hopefully Autumn will come and stick sometime soon.

One Down -- Four to Go. And What Is That!?

Today was so fantastically gray and cool. I just wanted to lick everything outside. Man it was good. Days like this make me unbelievably happy. More please!

So, I finished one of the baby blankets of which I spoke yesterday. This one is for JDR and Tiff who's baby should show up like any minute. I know for a fact they definitely do not come on here so it's alright to show you. =) See here:

So, I got these fantastic little bobby pins at Anthropologie yesterday and just had to show one off. It is incredibly difficult to take a picture of one's own head. Take a look:

It is also extremely disturbing to see what is going on on one's head. Just take a closer look:

Um, so...I'm 26! I have one child! I stay at home! No longer am I put through traffic-hell and boss-silliness on a daily basis. Where did this come from!? It's especially spooky considering that, uh, I just dyed my entire head black. How did this one little hair escape the dying process? What is going on? I'm greatly disturbed.

Oh, and I thought this was pretty sweet. Turns out, William and I have the same taste in music. Who knew? But cool, right? He's my buddy.

Oh yeah, and this pattern is once again the Scalloped Baby Blanket from Amy Karol's Bend-The-Rules Sewing. The fabric is from Superbuzzy. Of course.

25 Going on 80

Last night I realized that I was sitting on the couch watching Jeopardy while doing needlework. And I had a cobbler in the oven. And I had just taken some Tums. If it weren't for my gigantic baby belly, one could have mistaken me for an Octogenarian. Yep, I'm cool.
